I Wish I had Learnt My Lessons Before – AISWARYA RAO

Sitting in the hot room,
I was boiling,
As before my eyes, lay,
A metre long question paper,

– My death sentence?
Or so it seemed.

Beads of perspiration
Formed on my forehead,
As by my side, lay also a
Blank sheet,
Waiting to be filled with
Nonsensical verses,
About Hitler’s army and Einstein’s head!
Well, anyways, none of it came into my head.

But as the invigilator’s stare
Burnt into my spine,
I scribbled something

– only God knows what!

My head spinned
My heart reeled,
As I pictured the smug faces
Of my friends when the results would be out.

I sat there hopelessly
When realization dawned on me,
The bell rang, and my paper,
Already filled with nothingness,
Went into stuffed hands.

I really did wish I had studied my lessons before !
