DREAM – DIYA SANGEETH

As I was sleeping or may be half asleep
I thought I saw a shadow
Passing near my window.
I was scared stiff,
So I closed my eyes real tight
And looked at the window once more.
But the shadow was gone without a trace
To where I don’t know.
I searched all over the room
Looking for the mysterious shadow.
And then I saw it.
It was near the cupboard.
It was plain white.
There was blood dripping from its mouth.
And where its eyes should have been,
There were tentacles popping out of its eye sockets.
Then it opened its mouth and started to speak.
The language it spoke was a language that I did not know.
I closed my eyes real tight
Wishing this was all a dream.
Then I finally plucked up courage
To spring my eyes open.
But the shadow was gone by then.
Was this just my mind playing tricks on me?
If not, then what was it that I saw?

Diya Sangeeth – The poet is just twelve years old and studying in the 7th standard. She started writing at a much younger age and quite a few poems have been born out of her pen.
